An individual who laced candy with sleeping medication and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight children and one adult fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The 76-year-old, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The accused was held in detention prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
Mary Prior KC, presenting evidence, outlined the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She stated his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the sleeping quarters when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She stated to the judge the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "for many years", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the subsequent day.
She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had concerns in recently.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his family member had suspicions about what was going on, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC explained items including baby oil, Vaseline and syringes were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the defendant continued to engage in the "sweet game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the investigative body, previously told that it was examining the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor stated the children were struggling to walk due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities a second time.
She stated the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
