Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging period, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a setback at the American major.
Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - led to him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.
Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This victory is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his last six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.
His counter-punching strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to play at the elite level was over.
Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an enhanced service.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the final five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors exchanged service breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial tour title, seized the initiative to force a decider.
Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, he earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
